Freezeing photos to excel workbook
I have a file in excel that I need help with. I have a lot of items in my collection (2237 Items) and have pasted a photo of each item in a seperate cell in the workbook. When I go from top to bottom by using the arrow on the left of my file, it moves a bunch of the pictures. Its very time comsuming to try and find the photos that have movedfrom the cells. My question is, How do I enter a photo in a cell and freeze it so it doesn't move? If anyone out there can help me I would really appreciate it.
- cardsfaninmoCopper ContributorHi, Thanks for getting back to me. When I add photos to my cells, here is what I do.
1. Click on cell.
2. Click on insert.
3. Click on picture.
4. Click on this device.
5. Find photo and double click on it.
6. Photo appears in cell.
7. Adjust photo to fit cell.
8. RMBC on photo.
9. Click on Size & Properties.
10. Go down to Properties/Move & size with cells, then check Locked.
In the passed this has worked. Just recently when I try to go from top to anywhere in workbook by the up & down arrows to the right of workbook some of the photos jump to different locations or just move one or two cells from where they are suppose to be.
I right clicked on the picture and went to format picture. On my version all that is there is Shadow, Reflection, Glow, Soft Edges, 3-D Format, 3-D Rotatio and Artistic Effects. I don't have a "Protect Sheet" on mine.
Is there any other way to add photos and freeze them to the cells? Still have to have capability to insert rows in the workbook and have all photos move with insert command.
Thanks, John- bazCopper Contributor
Hi John cardsfaninmo
To "Protect Sheet" you need to RMBC on the spreadsheet tab at the bottom.
This is really weird:
" Just recently when I try to go from top to anywhere in workbook by the up & down arrows to the right of workbook some of the photos jump to different locations or just move one or two cells from where they are suppose to be"
- I've attached a screenshot of what opens when I select "Format Picture". Do you get a window like that? Your version of Excel might be different. If it's the same check the same boxes such as "Don't move or size with cells"
- I've also attached a screenshot of where to find the "Protect Sheet" option
Cheers
Baz
- cardsfaninmoCopper ContributorThanks, Baz.
Will try these suggestions and see how it goes. One last question.
Do I have to do this "Format Picture" to each individual photo or is there a way to do it for the whole coloumn?
I tried to do the "Like" but it's not showing any likes. Thanks again.

Hi cardsfaninmo
I tried to replicate what you've done, albeit with only a few photos but I'm not managing to get it to do what yours is doing. However, try this:- If you right mouse button click (RMBC) the picture and select "Format Picture" (LeftMBC) at the bottom of the dialog box that appears, the Format Picture menu opens (usually on the right hand side of the screen)
- Select the third icon across under "Format Shape"
- Under Properties select "Don't move or size with cells"
- Make sure "Locked" is checked
- RMBC on the sheet tab at the bottom
- In the menu that appears select "Protect Sheet"
- In the dialog box that opens you can choose to enter a password or leave it blank
- Select all items in the list except "Edit Objects"
- LMBC "Ok"
The pictures will now be locked and can't be edited or moved. You can select cells but you can't edit in them unless you unlock the sheet again.
Hope that kinda helps. Couldn't find a way to lock them and still be able to edit the cells
