Fractions
Hi there. I'm trying to enter an improper fraction in my spreadsheet (e.g. 6/5) but Excel automatically changes it to 1 1/5. So, I have two questions: How do get Excel to display that as 6/5? Secondly, I want to use that 6/5 in mathematical computations so I can't just change that column to a Text format. For instance, if column A2 is 4/5 and column B2 is 6/5, I want column C2 to apply the formula =(SUM(2,(A2*2)))*(SUM(1,B2)) and then display that result in currency format with two decimal positions (C2 result would be $7.92). I also want column B2 to display as 6/5 and not 1 1/5 as mentioned above. Thanks for any help you can provide!
If the numerator and denominator will be one digit, apply the custom number format ?/?
If hey could be one or two digits, you can use the custom number format ??/??

Thanks for the response but that didn't work for me. When I entered 6/5, it immediately changed it to 1 1/5. And when I looked at Format, it had been switched back to "Fraction" even though I had changed it to Custom as you suggested. Any thoughts?

Thanks, but that didn't work for me. It still changes 6/5 to 1 1/5 and then when I look at the formatting, it has reverted back to "Fraction" even though I selected "?/?" as you suggested (numerator and denominator will always be one digit).
