looking for the dollar sum of 26 cells in the same row but now next to each other?

If there's nothing in the intervening cells, then =SUM(A1:Z1) would still work (starting and ending points adjusted to whatever your reality is).
If, on the other hand--your description doesn't tell us what's in those other cells--there is other stuff in that range, then that's a different story.
