Formulas in a Shape

As you may know, charts and graphics are treated different than text on a worksheet. To fool the process, I'm putting formulas inside shapes so the grouped shapes get saved as an image, thereby making the text results of formulas being saved as JPG or PNG. But the result of formula is being truncated. Is there a maximum number of characters allowed in a shape? If so, is there a way to change/increase it?
