Formatting cells with color

I am using color to designate certain cells in each row of Excel.  But as I type, Excel automatically tries to assign colors to the cells, but they are not correct.  I'm using Green for 1st place, Yellow for 2nd place, and Red for 3rd place, but the numeric values in each cell do not directly relate to the colors.  For example, sometimes a 4 translates to Green, and sometimes it translates to Yellow. I have tried removing all automatic formatting, but it has not worked.  How do I stop Excel from automatically coloring cells?

  • I cannot reproduce the problem. If I enter data in D31:K31, the cells remain uncolored.

If I enter data in the rows above, the colors remain as they are.

Have you installed an add-in that might color the cells?

Did you receive my reply to your post? I no longer see it here.

    • In my previous reply, I asked "Could you attach a small sample workbook demonstrating the problem (without sensitive data), or if that is not possible, make it available through OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox or similar?"

I don't see a reply to that before the one with "Did you receive my reply to your post? I no longer see it here."

That's strange. I replied and I can still see it.

        I have attached a sample.

When I enter data in row 31 in columns D, E, G, H, J or K, the row randomly picks up colors or none at all. (This happens as I enter data in all the rows.)

  • Select the range in which you are entering the numbers.

On the Home tab of the ribbon, select Conditional Formatting > Clear Rules > Clear Rules from Selected Cells.

This, unfortunately has not worked. I've tried clearing rules from the selected cells, as well as the entire page. No luck.
