It's not you, but an "improvement" from Microsoft 😞
You can complain to Microsoft: File > Feedback > Send a Frown.
I have found that you can insert a shape, Chevron or arrowhead place it over the form control and group the three elements together similar to this:
and the form control still works as designed
Nice idea, but if you accidentally click on the chevron/arrowhead, you select the grouped shape...
Steve_58 Brilliant idea! HansVogelaar we can protect the sheet (and objects it it) to disable the ability to select objects. Not ideal but adds to Steve’s idea.
