Football Fixture list generator
- Jun 28, 2021
rick8651 No apologies needed! See attached. I created a fixture list from the website I mentioned earlier and dumped it into column L on the Fixtures sheet, just for your reference. Then I used Power Query to re-shape the list to something more useful. Now, I didn't include the PQ part, but the end result is copied into columns O to Q. Then I added a column to the Dummy Table and assigned a number to each team so that you can use a lookup formula to pick-up the team names based on the numbers in the fixtures table (Home and Away) in columns P and Q.
The best way to learn Excel is to look at the formulae I used, read about how they work and practice, practice.
Attaching your own file with some extras. I hope you'll find it helpful. Good luck!
Hi,
Many Thanks for your reply, I need fixture list generator to be an Excel one as I have a league table connected to fixture results- I did try this website but cant paste fixtures into Excel sheet as layout completely different.
Thanks again
Regards
Rick
rick8651 Nevertheless, I created a list for 8 teams, Home and Away. Copied the "table" from the website and dumped it into Excel. As you mentioned, it's not very useful. But, with some Power Query (PQ) steps, I could fairly easily create a table that has fixture number (1 through 14) and Home and Away team for the four matched in every fixture. I didn't attempt to optimise or even clean-up the query, but just wanted to demonstrate that PQ can transform seemingly useless data sets to something very useful.
Would this be a starting point for your match schedule?

Thankyou for that but its not really what i am after plus I dont know whar Power Query is.
I have a League table linked to the fixtures list sheet with score columns directly linked to table -the Fixtures list is really basic with four columns including Home Team, Home Score , Away Score , Away team.
Thanks Again
Rick

rick8651 Fair enough, but don't really understand what you mean by "I have a League table linked to the fixtures list sheet". So you already have a fixtures list? Why then ask for something that can generate a list? Why not upload what you already have and explain what you want to do with it?
