Find and Replace Highlight colour
- Jun 04, 2021I understand your struggle now. I guess you will have to rely on the columns and row headers to help you detect the column and row of the active cell.
Option 2 is to use less vibrant colours in your cells.
Also, other people posted your request as an improvement idea for Excel. You can add your vote:

I found other pages about this topic. Some mention Excel add-ins that might help. If this is a trouble for you every day, maybe it is worth to check it:

Until the highlight color issue is resolved by Microsoft, for MS 365, try looking in the suspected column or row that you are searching. Look through the suspected cells until you find the cell that shows a small shaded square symbol in the lower right corner. This is the highlighted cell you are looking for. This procedure is only true while using the "find and replace" feature in Excel 365.
I agree that more should be done by Microsoft to show the highlighted cell more vividly, but until then, I believe this procedure will get you by.

mark_murphy_manluk Same on other popular PDF programs, why do the software producers not put themselves in the users shoes? I have an extensive list to 'Find' certain supplier contacts and I cant see the dark green box.
Who on earth thought that colour scheme was a good idea??
Highlight the cell yellow would be a much improved option for me.
- Sandy412Aug 25, 2022Copper ContributorThis is an Accessibility issue, which for whatever reason, MS is choosing to ignore.
- Blue_SalmonAug 24, 2022Copper ContributorThe view count might be higher because this topic can be found in other forums (old and new). I found some sites offering a macro-based solution, but even that is not a true solution without issues. By the way, I also found a site that suggested the Mac OS version of Excel solved this issue. Users can customize the color of the highlight of the border. **Since it was for Mac OS, I only skimmed the content. So I might have misread it.**

Good Afternoon Celia_Alves,
I still await a solution to this issue, and based on the 7,400+ views it seems like many are also waiting.
I'm not sure what the view count has to be to get on the list of this to change for next release/update, but I'm sure this has to be getting close.

very surprised to see that this basic configuration is missing in excel
- jtelmfarmJun 23, 2022Copper ContributorAbsolutely right. Microsoft simply do not listen. Even when, as this is, the change is small, must be easy for them to make and concerns accessibility.
And no, it is not that people are colour blind. It is that the colour, the only colour, they use is well nigh invisible against the grid.
The obvious thing to do would be to highlight the found cells. Not put an inviable border around. - luvmytrkJun 02, 2022Copper Contributor
mark_murphy_manluk Almost a year later and we are still not able to change the outline color.
- mark_murphy_manlukMay 24, 2022Brass ContributorGood Afternoon Sandy412,
I still have not found a solution to this issue. I'm no programmer, there is somewhere in the code to make the highlight color dark green, it would be so great if there was an adjustable user based setting.
4,500+ views and still no solution? what are we doing here?
Its not the most pressing matter by any means, but please some one give it some attention. - Sandy412May 24, 2022Copper Contributor
I have this same issue time and again. The green outline of a cell in Find is nearly impossible to see. If there has to be a default color that we can't change, why not make it red or yellow? Or better yet, make this a setting that the user can change. I am with mark_murphy_manluk on this one. And based on the responses in this discussion, I'm sorry to see there appears to be no solution.
