Fill handle not increment a sequence
No fix. To be honest, I gave up.
As I use two laptop, when I need make lists using that resource, I use other computer, also, depending of kind of list, I use formulas, copy and paste special as text.
It is stupid, I know, but at least I continue working.
If anyone found a solution, please share it.
Hello Jluisnun
Thanks for the Feedback.
The problem came up [ at least for me] once I changed the region on the windows. After that, the fill handle stop function and the custom list cannot be edited [ window don't popup ]. Most probably is a bug in the office suite. Also, re-install office [normal/clean] didn't resolve the issue.
I have escalated the matter with Microsoft support, and I will update you on any development.

Ok, I thought I was going nuts. I have been messing with this forever - As others mentioned - all of a sudden my fill is repeating the sequence not continuing it. In addition, when I double click the fill handle it does not automatically fill as it would normally.
I have checked advanced fill options are automatic and enabled, removed all filters, confirmed no extra lines or spaces are included in my formula.
I have not uninstalled/reinstalled the program as I think this is just crazy - this thread goes back several years and this is a new version (installed March of 24). Are we still having the same bug issue without a fix in all this time?

I am not so lucky. This has been an issue on at least 2 different laptops: (1)Win 10 Enterprise with personal version of Office 365 and (2) Win 11 Enterprise with a business version of Office 365.
It increments when I don't want it to (example entering a date Dec 1, goes: 1-Dec, 2-Dec, 3-Dec), but not when I do want it to (example to have integers 1-10, dragging results in: 1,1,1,1.
I do not have any filters on any of the sheets in the workbook.
This is the case whether the cell is formatted general, number, currency and single or multiple digits and or decimal places.
Just got the column to increment by typing an apostrophe before the 1. I did it by accident the first time. The symbol appears saying that the cell has been formatted as text or an apostrophe appears before the number. Formatting as text does not work. But typing and apostrophe then the digit does.......FOR NOW.

I was facing similar issue for a filtered row. Resolution in my case was unselecting all the filters, such that all the rows are unhidden. That resolved the increment issue I had.

Good news! I am glad it worked for you. ADScottUS
- ADScottUSJul 17, 2023Copper ContributorThat's the 'fix' for me. Click 'Data', click off 'Filter', extend the numerical sequence as far as needed, click on 'Filter' again.

- livaneliJun 17, 2023Copper ContributorYes, same thing happened to me as well. There must be some bug related the regions.

I was experiencing this as a periodic problem, which (for me) a solution has been found, via another group. If the sheet you are working on has a filter applied, then it stops the auto increment. As soon as I clear any filters it increments perfectly.
I hope this resolves the issue for some of you
