File Save As takes 20-30 seconds for Dialogue to appear
You don't have to do any of what is suggested above. The following works perfectly to get rid of slowness when opening "save" and "save as" dialogues.
The steps below come from the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RTvM0tvc0c8
The slow opening of the save and save as dialogues is caused by too many files in the directory: C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
I had about 459 files in that directory. Following the steps below solved the issue:
The steps to take according to the video are:
Delete everything in this directory (substitute for NAME the correct name of your profile):
C:\Users\NAME\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations
(As a contingency, it might be prudent to move all those files to another directory temporarily before completely deleting them.)
Do a Windows Key + X and choose Terminal (Admin).
At the prompt, enter: net stop server
Let it the server stop - you'll get a message it has stopped
At the prompt, enter: net start server
After the server restarts, reboot Windows and the dialogues should open very promptly once again.
