File Locked for Editing by myself
it has been locked all day and the IT dept have tried different things to get me booted out from the files but it is still locked.
What can I do? I need to use the file for processing.

It depends on the location of the workbook. I'm guessing the file is on a network share. If this is the case then an admin needs to connect to the server share in Administrative tools | Computer Management and close the session.
The screen cap above is what the menu looks like when opened. An admin would right click on 'Computer Management (Local)' and choose 'connect to another computer'. Once connected to the share, the shared folder options will be for the network drive.
