Field List in Pivot table not showing
Field list is not showing in my pivot table even after clicking show field list. I am using office 365.

I know this post is old, but I wanted to add to this post as I experienced the exact same issue, but this post did not have the permanent fix. So I found the solution elsewhere. If you cannot view the Pivot Table Field List in normal mode, but are able to view the Pivot Table Field List in safe mode (hold ctrl while opening excel), then this solution should work for you.
Perform the below steps to delete and recreate the configuration file "Excel15.xlb" within Excel's roaming profile.
Close all Excel Files
Navigate to C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel folder.
Delete the Excel15.xlb file (or move to another folder as a backup)
Open up Excel and a new Excel15.xlb should be created in the roaming folder
In Excel, you should now be able to view the Pivot Table Field List.
If you do not see the field list, ensure that the "Show Field List" option is selected by right clicking in the pivot table
If you attempt this solution, be sure to make a backup before deleting any files.

I needed this fix today! It was driving me crazy that the Field List would not show. Very strange, but thanks for the tip!

Mike_Martin_ Thanks! this solved my problem as well 🙂
- MikeDFWApr 22, 2024Copper ContributorMike_Martin - THANK YOU for posting this solution! I've spent countless hours trying to fix it myself after the Microsoft help desk was surprisingly unable to fix this issue.

Mike_Martin_ After browsing endless posts and videos about how to toggle the field list on and off, I finally found your post. I could toggle the field list on and off all day, but the checkboxes for all columns in my data would not reappear. Your solution worked like a charm!

Mike_Martin_ Thanks, this helped me tremendously. I actually saw the Excel15 in my recovered files temp folder, double clicked it, didn't see any activity, but closed Excel, reopened (without Safe mode) and pivot now working.
