External Data Properties
I specialize in managing inventory in excel and my data comes from an external database that through a query is imported into excel.
What I want to know is, in regard to the external data properties window under the Data tab > Queries and connections > properties, which option should I choose in the subsection that refers to changing number of rows in the data range after refresh and how to handle that.
I have included a screenshot below.
My worksheet contains data that is refreshed from an external database, however for my work I would like to be able to add columns of my own data, like notes for specific items, and other useful information. I would like that information to stay on the same row as the item it is related to when refreshed and not be moved around. I believe I want to use the overwrite option, but will that keep my added columns where I intend them to be on a refresh? does anyone have experience with this?
Manually added column is not in sync with records return by PowerQuery. For the workaround try to google for self-referencing tables. One the first posts is Self Referencing Tables in Power Query :link:- Excelerator BI

Do you know if the process is the same for a connection vs a Query?
My data is pulled from a database not an excel spreadsheet and I am having a hard time trying to translate to a connection.
