Excell keeps saying repair is needed but makes no repair and won't save recent entries

Question

I haven't been in these Excel files for a month.&nbsp; Got time to work on them today and when opening any file the message "repair is needed".&nbsp; After selecting repair now it closes the file and that's it.&nbsp; If I open the file again I get the same message.&nbsp; Sometimes after selecting repair now, the message will go away but after entering new data the program closes on its own and nothing new saved.
