In Excel can I add all populated non-numerical cells?

- Do you mean count how many of them there are? (You cannot add non-numeric values)
This formula counts how many items there are which Excel thinks are not numbers, nor dates:
=COUNTA(A1:A100)-COUNT(A1:A100)
