Hello all you smart people out there--I need help--again! How to add another formula to an existing formula? I am learning here-so please not way over my head--please? existing in cell now =$j$2...

The cell reference $J$2 is an absolute reference in your formula and as a result if you drag or copy the formula to other cells this cell reference $J$2 will remain static and will not change.
The other possible reference types for the same cell reference in your formula could be...
- J2 --> Relative reference i.e. if you drag the formula down in the same column, the row reference will change and column reference will remain static. And if you drag the formula across the column in the same row, the row reference will remain static and the column reference will change. e.g. if you have a formula =J2 in a cell say K2 and you drag the formula down to K3, the formula will be changed to =J3 and if you drag the formula to L2, the same formula will be changed to =K2.
- J$2 --> In this reference style, the row is fixed but column reference will change if you drag the formula across the columns in the same row.
- $J2 --> In this reference style, the column is fixed but the row reference will change if you drag the formula down in the same column.
