Hi JKPieterse thank you for your suggestion, it is appreciated. I have tried both but unfortunately neither appears to have resolved the problem. The file did suddenly spring into life yesterday for 30 minutes when opening a PowerPoint presentation with links to the file, but subsequently froze again and still not working :/
I'm afraid I'm out of ideas :-(
