Excel Unresponsive but not crashed
NikolinoDE Thanks but the tool does very little to address Excel issues. It was of no help. Other ideas?

Try Safe mode start first (if you haven't tried that yet).
Then I would disable all AddIns to see if that fixed the problem.

I have the exact same problem on a new Dell XPS 9520 with Win 11 Pro build 10.0.22621 and running Excel in Microsoft 365 Version 2210 (Build 15726.20202 Click-to-Run). The assistant is uselss, as it always happens. Done all the steps suggested in https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/excel-not-responding-hangs-freezes-or-stops-working-37e7d3c9-9e84-40bf-a805-4ca6853a1ff4

Update from my end and thank you for the replies and comments:
Safe Mode = I did a reasonable test, though not exhaustive using safe mode and could not get the condition to re-occur. Regardless I'm going to spend a little more time using "safe mode" to validate.
After some reading, I too thought maybe the Add-ins may be contributing as I have Foxit, Adobe (that are essentially the same pdf addin) and QBO Add-ins all running. I disabled all the 3rd party add-ins but left the MS resident ones active. Unfortunately the condition continues with the add-ins disabled. Restarted excel but did not re-start the device.
So Safe Mode seems to address the condition but needs some more testing. Removing 3rd party add-ins did not appear to solve the problem. I'm trying to determine what to try next.
What else does Safe Mode disable? Any other suggestions?
- GioProviDec 29, 2022Copper ContributorHi, thanks for the update. I had a go at the safe mode and the issue seemed to have gone away. It obviously came back when I restarted in normal mode. When I have time I'll try and completely uninstall office (total celanup) and then reinstall. We'll see what we get.
