Excel turning numbers into dates
I import a .csv file that automatically changes
4840-1/2 |
to
2/01/4840 |
How can I stop this happening? I re enter it every time but it must be something I can fix??
Thanks
JaniceTIS05775 I suspect you "import" the civ by double-clicking on it. Then, Excel tries to be a bit too smart at times and automatically transforms text into dates if the particular text only slightly resembles a date.
From the Data ribbon, use Get Data, From CSV/Text or From Text (Legacy). That will allow you to set the correct data type for each column.

Riny_van_Eekelen Thank you! It's worked and now I can successfully and confidently work with the data I am sent.
