Excel to PDF exporting with excess of pages

Hello,

We have a couple users that need to export large Excel workbooks into PDFs. All the sheets have their own page setup settings to ensure that the information needed fits into one or a few well formatted pages in PDF. This should result in the PDF being 75 pages in total. Up until this past week, this has worked perfectly fine for both users, but now it only works for one. The other's has now started exporting either:

  • a large amount of additional pages with pages at the end of the PDF that are just sheets that were already in the PDF, just smaller in size
  • additional pages caused by a sheet getting cut off, causing a small amount of content left on a whole page by itself

These two issues have caused the PDF to be either 135 pages or 274 pages. I tested it with my own excel as well, and it came up with the same results (either 135 or 272 pages). So, it seems like only that one user is able to export the PDF the way it should be, so I had a look at their settings in Excel and the process they used to export it, both of which were the exact same as what I and the other user did, leaving me lost on what is causing this issue.

What could be causing this problem? Would it be excel or Adobe? And if it's excel, what should I be doing to get the Excel to PDF to work properly for the user who is having the issues?

Thanks,

Brycen

If everything is the same, look in Acrobat Reader, is it the same with the same version on everyone? ...are all updates the same for everyone?

It's just a thought, maybe it will help 🙂

Had a look and both are the same version and fully up to date. I will have a closer look at the Abode settings.

Apologies for the delay in reply. I have checked the settings on Adobe Reader, both the normal version and the pro, but am still getting the same results. I have also tried the online converter Adobe offers but that did not work. What settings are there in Excel to look at that would effect exporting sheets to a PDF? Do the page settings change depending on the user?

Because the user who is having success is the one that is also setting the page settings/templates - so would it be possible that even though it is the same document in SharePoint being accessed, the page settings are dependent on the user and therefore will be off when exporting to Adobe?
