Excel sorting numbers
I have a lot of documents where I have to sort numbers. I've had no problems with my sort until I updated my office program 3 weeks ago. Now with every number grouping I sort it gives me an inaccurate sort. Is this something that I can change?
This is what it should be:
| what I | how it | |
| want | sorts | |
| 1 | 1 | |
| 2 | 10 | |
| 3 | 11 | |
| 4 | 12 | |
| 5 | 13 | |
| 6 | 14 | |
| 7 | 2 | |
| 8 | 3 | |
| 9 | 4 | |
| 10 | 5 | |
| 11 | 6 | |
| 12 | 7 | |
| 13 | 8 | |
| 14 | 9 |

Most probably you have texts, not numbers. With that to sort click on
Here is like
and next it asks you
Select Sort as numbers.

romantzlady Can't explain why this started after an update, but your "numbers" are in fact texts and sorted accordingly. Use the VALUE function to convert them to numbers.
