Excel Settings To Allow Input

Hello!  My excel 2016 won't allow another application to input data in the background.  I have a program withing AutoCAD 2016 that opens an existing spread sheet, writes to it, saves it, and then closed the file.  It worked for a little bit then stopped.  It appears that some settings may not be correct.  What settings will allow Excel to receive the data?  Thank you!
