Excel Pivot Table update problem with Mac
Hello
I have a MacBook Air M1 and use excel with office 365. I have a file that connects to several excel workbooks, all stored on an external server. When updating the database of a pivot table I get the following error : " the source file of the pivot table cannot be opened ".
It is supposed to connect to the server and to the indicated file, where it should also ask me for a password to access the file. None of this happens. However, if I do this from a Windows computer, it allows me to do it.
I find it hard to believe that the problem is the type of computer or operating system I am using.
Please help me,
Thank you very much for your help.

Nevertheless, that could indeed be the cause of the problem. Written by somebody who also uses a Mac M1 (in the Mini in my case), as well as an older iMac with an Intel chip....there ARE differences between the capabilities of Excel, depending on hardware and operating systems, between Windows and Mac, even within Mac. Usually those differences are not apparent, but some practices--quite possibly including the one you're experiencing--are where those differences manifest themselves.
