Excel Pivot table help

I have a data file that has names of employees with a column for 1st level manager and second level manager.   When i create a pivot chart/pivot table and filter it to one 1st level manager, the table shows all manager names that are in the file, instead of just showing the managers that have that 1st level manager. How can I change that?

    Maria,

I presume your data looks like this:

Name of Employee - Name of Manager 1st Level - Name of Manager 2nd Level

To analyse with a pivot table you need this structure:

Name of  Employee - Manager Type - Name of Manager

Manager Type would be either 1st or 2nd.
