Excel opens a blank workbook along with the file I was trying to open
This post is to a help a colleague with an issue they are having. Whenever they try to open an Excel file, the file opens along with a blank workbook.
'Disable Hardware Acceleration' is checked, and 'Ignore other applications that use Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE)' is unchecked. The error is still occuring.
Any help would be appreciated.

- Martin_WeissBronze ContributorHi,
there might be an empty file in the startup folder.
Default startup folder is:
C:\Users\(User name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART.
There might be also specific startup folders defined:
Goto File menu | Options | Advanced. At the very bottom, there is a setting "At startup, open all files in". Check, if there is a folder entered, and if so, check if there are any files in this folder.
