Excel navigation on startup

I have recently upgraded my machine and whenever I open the latest version of Excel it is always showing a navigation panel on the left side of sheet.  I can close this no bother, but unlike Word it is not keeping the settings and not opening on next use of the app.

Its driving me crazy, any ideas how to stop it and just open the sheet with not being here?

  • Close and Check Settings: Close the navigation panel and adjust Excel’s settings to avoid opening panels on startup.
Disable Start Screen: Uncheck options related to the Start screen in Excel Options.
Modify Startup Folder: Ensure no specific folders are set to open on startup.
Update and Repair: Keep Excel updated and consider a repair if necessary.
Check Add-Ins: Disable non-essential add-ins that might alter startup behavior.
Reset Preferences: As a last resort, reset Excel preferences.
