Excel mobile workaround to form control
Hi
I have recently developed an excel based progress sheet (with assistance from this forum) for our site based subcontractors. This uses the tick boxes and some macro's, but I save the sheets as standard xlsx as the macro's aren't required once the sheets are created.
The sheets are then uploaded to our teams site for each project where the individual team members (as guests) are able to access the sheets. However, as with most site based engineers, they use mobile devises such as phones and tablets to access the drawings and documents form the teams site, but the excel sheets aren't editable and say 'This version of Excel doesn't support running or interacting with form control'. As a result of this, they have have to use a laptop to do the updates.
Is there any alternative way to do this as I believe there isn't an update as such to work around this?
- Ditch the form controls and use simple Data Validation List option with a Yes/No choice. Then make sure your data is formatted as a table so the users can use Android Excel's great feature to edit records in a table: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-cards-view-to-work-with-table-data-on-your-phone-fda6099e-2de8-4a52-a926-90a7ee61a32b
