Excel file linking issues - Excel retaining memory of files after closure
Thanks JKPieterse
If I see Excel.exe in the task manager, am I to force quit the application?
Again, it's much appreciated.

Thank you! JKPieterse
I'll be sure to try it next time it's an issue and post the results here.

Well, our tech team took a look at the issue, and turned off "Keep the last Auto recovered version If I close without saving" which uses a cached version of the file that is opened if Excel crashes. They also checked the box for "Delete files from the Office Document Cache when they are closed." Part of the issue was (apparently) my profile had two sets of security privileges, one handed out by the "Main Share" security group and another an Individual. This, combined with other users accessing the files on our shared network, triggered the automatic opening of all related Excel files. Unfortunately, were I to be asked how these items interact and why exactly this fixed it, I would not be able to say, but I hope this might point some people in the right direction if they're experiencing these types of issues.
