Is this a file that you have created locally or is it one that has downloaded from an internet source?
If it is from an internet source, you sometimes get this error message caused by the excel protected view.
You could try to deactivate this using the attached instructions.
If it is a locally created file, ignore it :smileyhappy:

I created the file locally. It was working fine before. I Read KBs from Microsoft and follow so many methods to fix my file:
https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/2994633
https://support.microsoft.com/en-in/kb/2464297
After that, I downloaded a free version of Excel repair software and it fixed my problem.
Occasionally restarting your computer will help, and opening Excel first before opening the file.
If that doesn't work then make a copy of the file and change extension to .xlsb that has been known to help also.

I have the same problem which has happened with Word Docs too, unfortunately none of the options discussed Including the 3rd party recovery software have worked. It doesn't happen all the time and sometimes the files are very small with only data records (no complciated equations or charts). Do Microsoft have a facility to look at corrupted files and find out what has gone wrong? If this continues I am going to have to find a way to go back to Office 2010.

Thank you, Wyn
I restarted the PC and repair MS Office as well to fix the problem but not worked for me.
Sometimes a corrupt file cannot be saved unfortunately. Was it a big file in terms of data and sheets?
Had you created it from scratch on inherited of someone else?
