    Go to the "File" menu.

For older Excel versions, go to Tools > Options.

Select Options (found at the bottom of the menu).

In the Excel Options dialog, click on Advanced.

Under the Editing Options category, look for:

"Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop".

Make sure the checkbox is ticked.

Click OK to save the changes.

If the feature still doesn't work, check the following:

Ensure the sheet or file isn't protected (Review > Unprotect Sheet).

Verify that you're not working in a read-only file.

    Additional Information:

Excel not responding, hangs, freezes or stops working
