Excel Date formatting

To be specific, which exact date format you want? Is it mm/dd/yyyy, dd/mm/yyyy, mm/yyyy, mm.dd.yyyy or whatever. Let me know the exact one you desire

With you current date format it shall be 4/01, 27/01, etc.

I have been able to amend the dates by using 01/01, but how do I go to settings to change how excel recognizes the zero before the number using the way I typed it in originally because I can never remember having to put a slash.
Thank you for the help with the first bit though
