excel date conversion

If such texts are in column, you may select it, Data->Text to Columns, on third step of the wizard select date and DMY or MDY depends on which format is assumed in the source.
If your date 01.01.2020 was in cell A1 and assuming it is written month.day.year then:
=DATE(RIGHT(A1,4),LEFT(A1,2),RIGHT(LEFT(A1,5),2))
