Excel: Custom Date format

I want to use the Custom Date format in Excel to show me a date format to get "Mon", not "mon" or "MON". ddd and DDD are not good, and I cannot enter Ddd.

    Excel uses your system settings. In English, the default is "Mon", but for example in French, it would be "lun." with lower case L. So check your system settings first.

    Otherwise, you can use a formula in another cell. With a date in D2:

    =PROPER(TEXT(D2, "ddd"))
