Excel click-to-call telephone numbers Android

Using an Excel spreadsheet with telephone numbers. On my colleague's I-phone, she can simply click on the telephone numbers to initiate a call. Meanwhile, on my android phone this does not seem possible - even after formatting cells as 'special' and 'telephone number'. I have seen comments saying to create another column with the formula =HYPERLINK(CONCATENATE("TEL:",B2)). This just brings up an error message. It looks like simply not possible on Android? Thank you
