I'm trying to send my excel file to someone by email, but can't figure out how to

When I need to share an Excel file with a colleague, I typically go to File, then Share, select Email, and choose Send as Attachment.

Yes, that's for an older version of Excel.
The suggestion from Patrick2788 is an excellent long-term solution.
A quick and dirty (and what I generally rely on for the rare occasions when I meal a file) is just to drag-and-drop the file, dragging it into the email from the file directory.
I recommend customizing the quick access toolbar to add the 'email' command. It will take the workbook you have open and attach it to a new email. No need to pick between sharing or sending as attachment.
