Excel 365 Stock Data not updating all stocks
After struggling for better part of a day, mine started working a half hour ago. I just kept rebooting, signing in, singing out, etc. etc. I tried to find an older version of Excel 365 to install; however, it seems MS has removed prior versions from the download page. I was just about to call them to ask for a download, then it started working...hmmm...

D0001 Same issue for me. Stocks stopped updating today. Was all OK last week.
macOS 13.4.1 - Excel 16.74 (23061100
- D0001Jul 08, 2023Brass ContributorI'm a little confused.
The current version of Excel 365 is 16.74.23061100.
The current version of Ventura is 13.4.1.
Are you running Excel 365 and Ventura, or something else?
Thanks for any info. - vacmanJul 07, 2023Copper ContributorIronic as it literally started working for me right after I posted this comment - lol.

Ssounds like you're running Excel 16.72 (a recent update). Current version of Ventura 13.3.1 coupled with Excel 16.71 works. After this multi-month debacle occurring multiple times, I turned off auto-updates and will only update my primary system after testing any Mac OS and Excel updates on a secondary laptop. So by process of elimination, assuming nothing else has changed on your system, it's probably the 16.72 that broke the data call. If you can roll back to 16.71, you'd probably be ok (there are various ways to roll back--check the thread higher up--that might help). fcm339

I checked a simple worksheet that I set up a few days ago:
The data is NOT changing. Refresh does nothing. Stuck at 4/17 it appears.
So, I added the same structure using a new symbol and "Stocks" and got what appears to be current data. But it too does not update. Makes one think there is an Excel bug if the data is indeed available.
- D0001Mar 18, 2023Brass ContributorYep...mine is now working...would have preferred the down time to be today (Saturday), not in the middle of the open market.
- acaruso1011Mar 18, 2023Copper ContributorGo figure. I opened my file just now and it updated (3/18/2023 00:00). Hopefully they figured it out and we are good moving forward.

- D0001Mar 17, 2023Brass ContributorWe are so out of luck...after a half hour in chat with MS, they simply acknowledge there's a problem, but there are no workarounds that they could offer, just that they will contact me once they have more info.

Fredward Is there a way within your spreadsheet to see when it was last updated?
- Almac42Mar 17, 2023Brass ContributorI deleted 16.71 and installed 16.69 on the advise of the MS Tech. It did not help.

Got the same problem but mine started this morning. Last data update was at 8:21:08 am eastern time.

Really...!! Fortunately I only have two index ETFs, one domestic, one foreign. I've got the share prices configured now so that I can enter manual information. If there are data in the cells designated to hold manual input, the spreadsheet uses the manual info to compute my portfolio value. If there are zeros in these cells, the spreadsheet uses info from Microsoft's stock data type.

Helluva week for the stock price feed to go down. Maybe not knowing is better 😉 LonSeattle

Let me know how it turns out... I've repaired MS Office twice and used the stock data type in a new worksheet to no avail.
- Almac42Mar 17, 2023Brass Contributorhad been on 16.71
