Excel 365 Stock Data not updating all stocks

Does anyone know how to determine which stocks are now updating and which are not (without doing a laborious manual compare to another source)...is there a list by Refinitiv perhaps?  Alternatively, is there an estimated time to fix this new problem?

This is now the message showing up in Excel 365 when trying to update stock data (US-based location, Intermountain region)..no changes to any of the symbols were done, and this is a new message:

Excel 365 Message:  We refreshed some of your data, but we couldn't refresh all of it because we changed or removed it on our side. For the data we can no longer refresh, we've kept the most recent results.

Thanks in advance to anyone who can assist here.

D0001 So out of nowhere mine started working again. Hadn't done anything. Hopefully it was a temporary blip

Whats it take to get at least a simple response from MSFT itself? Maybe an ETA.

      Wayne: Re: Response from MSFT
If you contact them, go through support on the phone, they will try to be helpful, and in some of the past cases, they have showed us how to roll back to a prior version of Excel 365 which has the integration working. The current version of 365 works with the past version of Mac OS, so if you can find a way to roll back to Ventura 13.4 (from Ventura 13.4.1), then you'll be back in business until MSFT updates Excel 365--last time they had given a time frame of one to three months, which was why I rolled back my Excel and it worked. I've had zero luck in getting Apple to help with this issue (or even help with a roll back), as they don't feel it is their issue.

      Phester: Re: Data Providers
There's another 3rd party integration within Excel 365 (Stock Connector)...go to Insert, Ad-ins, Get Ad-ins, and it will probably come up as the seventh one on the list, or do a search for Stock Connector. I used this for several years; problem was ease-of-use...you have to write simple formulas to get the data from its display into your spreadsheet, some coverage issues, and it was a bit clunky. You can try Google Sheets...most of the authors on Seeking Alpha use the sheets, but it also has integration issues from time to time. For me, it wasn't desirable as I have many comprehensive workbooks in Excel, and the idea of trying to port them over won't work for me. If you have simple sheets, then using Google is probably a good option. Yahoo used to have an integration as well, and I used that for a year as it was integrated with Excel; however, if I recall correctly, they killed either the integration or the service which forced me to switch (don't quote me on this last part)! I've looked at other integrations, but for ease-of-use, the built in Excel Stocks was by far the best and easiest. I'd happily pay several hundred dollars a year for the service if it could be more reliable.

Acaruso: Regarding Logging in and Out: I've found I had to log out, close the app, reboot the computer, then log in. Sometimes after a rollback for example, it didn't work until I did it a couple times; yes, that makes no sense, but I kept trying as I'd exhausted everything else. If after a couple times you have no luck, then I'd suggest calling MSFT and asking for help, then asking them if this issue has been reported. If it has been reported, then they will probably tell you that the engineering team is working on it, in which case, the next question is when is, is there a workaround, and when is an expected fix. I was able to get them to open a case number for me in the past. They also communicated via email to me when they had a work-around, then eventually when they had a fix. Going directly to them or reading this thread where others had tried various things was the only help I found. Please post if you do contact MSFT and find out anything as I'm sure there are a lot of people who don't have the integration working.

Strange -- I am using Ventura 13.4.1 & Excel 16.74 -- and having no problems. This may suggest that multiple reboots is the route to go.

Does anyone have alternative data providers they use as plug-in for either Excel or Google docs? I'd prefer to keep using the built-in Excel feed, but since it's been buggy for years and Microsoft isn't fixing it, may be best to consider alternatives.

coolhand1517 There’s no additional service that’s required…just Excel 365.  You’ll need to sign back in to 365; however, if you’re running Ventura 13.4.1 (that’s the most current operating system for Mac) then you may be out of luck.  If you are running the 13.4 build, then you may be fine by signing back in to 365.  I can empathize greatly with the level of frustration as it relates to the Stock integration.  In the past, rolling back to an earlier version of Excel 365 would solve the problem; however, in this case, rolling back probably wouldn’t help as the current version of 365 works with the prior release of Ventura (meaning it’s probably the most recent Ventura update that broke the integration).  The first thing to do is verify what version of Ventura and Excel 365 that you are running.  Hope this is a little help.

Stopped working today for me. I get a message stating that "You need to sign in with an account associated with these data types. Sign in at the top of Excel", but my account already shows SIGNED IN.

Same problem, was working earlier today (07/10/2023) when the market was open & now suddenly stopped; got same message; signed out; signed in and still getting message. Was not aware of any requirement to have a service other than Microsoft 365

acaruso1011 Same thing happening to me.  I assume Microsoft messed it up with a software update.

Had same issue many months ago. Then no response from MS. Just resolved itself after several days with no word from MS or action on my part.

Seems like they should let us know something.

From the Menu bar select Formulas then choose Error Checking. Then choose Error Checking again. This should advance you to the cell where there is an error. The dialog panel that opens will tell you what the error is, in this case Unable to refresh data type. You can then choose it Ignore Error or Edit in Formula Bar. Click Next or Previous to move to the next error. That is the best way to find these slightly mysterious errors.

Is anyone having issues (since yesterday) of stockhistory not reporting recent results?

I've used this for months and all of a sudden no data is available after 2/10/23.

      thanks.

D0001 The only way I was able to identify the "problem" stocks easily to resolve this error was to go through the list and look for the little green triangle in the upper left corner of the cell, indicating that there is an error with the cell.

dawsssThanks, didn't notice the green triangle previously.
My issue was a mutual fund that was changed to an ETF - so prior name and symbol were no longer valid.

dawsss Thanks, I never noticed the little green triangle in the "bad" cells until you pointed it out.

I had the same issue start 2 days ago. I tried to resolve as you indicated but there are no green arrows on any of the stocks / stock data I have in my file, so it doesn't seem like that identifies the issue. Any other ideas??
