Excel 365 sheet view not working in the desktop app
cool2021 Thanks, but the problem they are having doesn't apply to me. They are unable to access sheet view at all, whereas I can access it but it doesn't work as it should.
Excel1265 Hi - I know this is old, but we are having the same issues. Any luck finding a solution? Each employee has their own sheet view, but anytime someone filters in their own view, it impacts ALL users. Sorting, hiding columns, and freezing panes are all actions that impact all workers, even though they are working in their own established sheet view.
We are accessing it via a sharepoint desktop folder. Windows 10.

LaurLaura hi. I know this is a little old now but did you have any joy with the ticket you raised? I have exactly the same issue as you and it's pretty frustrating.
I'm assuming you didn't have any luck as the software still seems to act the same way today and I'm sure Microsoft would have fixed it if there was a solution.
We're using Excel in the desktop app: I hate the browser version of it!
- cool2021Feb 06, 2023Iron ContributorWhat about if each user has their OneDrive auto synced to changes made on local version automatically get made on Cloud version in OneDrive? That's how mine works. Auto sync updates Desktop to OneDrive.

ExcelUser01 Okay. Fair enough. Guess it depends on application. Good Luck.
- ExcelUser01Feb 02, 2023Copper ContributorThis does not work for a collaborative work product which requires real-time changes and review of updates by multiple users.
I could understand working like this in a git environment, where the utilities available would give advanced options to push / pull and review changes between multiple versions, with one main version.
Not applicable for how users expect Excel in the cloud to function. Google sheets handles this type of thing just fine, by comparison. - ExcelUser01Feb 02, 2023Copper ContributorWhat are you talking about? When multiple users are editing a live data table (such as a project tracking sheet) in the cloud, your method doesn't work.
- ExcelUser01Feb 02, 2023Copper ContributorThis is a common issue for many users and Microsoft needs to fix it. We just switched back over to Microsoft from Google docs, and now everyone is ready to switch back.
- MLSA2022Jan 04, 2023Copper ContributorThanks for taking the time into talking to them. Sadly we wanted to use that filtering too
- LaurLauraDec 07, 2022Copper ContributorIt isn't raw data and should be in an excel format based on what it is. Thanks.

LaurLaura I am not sure the nature of your data. However, as a rule of thumb, if you have a raw datafile shared amongst several people in the Cloud, it should never be in a spreadsheet. Instead, it should be in a raw format like a .csv or .txt datafile stored either in OneDrive or on a Cloud server. Then, whether it be from Excel Desktop OR Excel 365, any user can access the source, shared datafile and get it into their Excel in several ways before doing their filtering and sorting: 1) PowerQuery, 2) SQL 3) Import.
Raw data -- should never be stored in OneDrive in an Excel file format to begin with.

Excel1265 I posted on another Microsoft support forum and was given the advice to file a support ticket via our administration. A Microsoft employee contacted me this morning to view the issue firsthand. Not holding my breath, but perhaps if enough of us submit tickets we can get this on someone's radar to fix. I will let you know if I get any worthwhile response back.
