Excel 2019 Autohyphening long words

I have a simple Excel sheet that I use to show people how to do things.  In one of the fields, I have a person with a long last name.  Excel 2019 is automatically dividing up the word with hyphens.  How can I stop this from happening?

In Excel 2019, you can disable automatic hyphenation for cells that contain long words.

Here is how you can do it:

    1. Select the Cell or Cells: Click on the cell or cells that contain the long word or text that you don't want to be hyphenated.
    2. Open the Format Cells Dialog: Right-click on the selected cell(s) and choose "Format Cells" from the context menu. Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + 1 to open the Format Cells dialog.
    3. Go to the Alignment Tab: In the Format Cells dialog box, navigate to the "Alignment" tab.
    4. Uncheck "Wrap Text": Under the "Text control" section, you will see an option called "Wrap text." Make sure it is unchecked. This will prevent the text from being hyphenated and will display the long word without line breaks.
    5. Click OK: After unchecking "Wrap text," click the "OK" button to apply the formatting changes to the selected cell(s).

The text in the selected cell(s) will now display the long word without hyphenation or line breaks.

The text was created with the help of AI.

    Hope this will help you.
