EXCEL 2013 opening blank spreadsheets

This is a major headache for me as all Office 2013 users are impacted. It not only impacts Excel but also Outlook. You can open excel files by opening Excel file directly from excel or by dragging a file into an open session of excel. I think the only option is a rollback of the windows update. Tried fixing the file associations but that did not help. Repair Office Installation (online) will fix outlook but does not fix Excel

@NikolinoDE  I think there is a big difference between not supporting and breaking the product via a windows update.
