Excel : mouse hopping randomly around sheet

Excel has become unusable for me. If i open excel sheet, random cells and menu option are selected, without me clicking on them. If i am in the middle of entering data, a different random cell , or column or menu option will autoselct itself

This is driving me nuts because I can no longer use excel! I'm not sure when this started happening, but i recently upgraded from windows 10 to windows 11

please help!
