I am having this same problem. I open a file from teams, it opens in the app on my computer but in read-only mode. Then I try from finder and it opens fine. Perhaps it has something to do with opening files locally from an app/the internet, but I don't know how to change those permissions.
Rubes_SIA suggested the file may be opening from the internet (thanks!) so I turned of "connected experiences" in preferences > privacy and now the problem is solved.
