Error in simple formula

Hi ,

I keep getting an error message (I11) with a ! mark - Can anyone help me understand why this should happen?

On the screenshot you can see the sum formula.

Thanks,

Alan

Alan, that's not an error - that is alert which states that it could be an error. You may ignore it or switch off at all in File->Options

    but it's better to keep.

Foxhill07 This in not an error, but Excel thinks that you may have made a mistake, because it notices that the cell above is blank. You can switch off "background error checking". Can be handy in some cases, but personally I find it quite irritating and switched it off. On a Mac, you'll find it under Preferences, Error Checking (see picture). Not sure where it sits in Windows, but probably under Options, Formulas.

Cheers Riny - I have switched it off as it is annoying.
