Display frozen when opening a form with Smart View

I just set up a new Lenovo Thinkpad X1 with Windows 11 and 

Microsoft Excel for Microsoft 365 MSO (Version 2206 Build 16.0.15330.20260) 64-bit

I installed the latest Smart View add in, same as the windows 10 laptop I am replacing, however when loading a smart view form I see the variable options at the top as normal, but the cell field is all blank and frozen.   I can move the active cell around and see what value is supposed to be in the cell as it appears in the formula bar, but the no screen updates are happening in the spreadsheet itself.   Is this a common issue with either this version?    Any advice or troubleshooting tips?  It was working fine on the old machine?
