Date format

In the Format Cells dialog, Number tab, if you select Date, you'll notice that the first two formats are marked with an asterisk:
These are the Short Date and Long Date formats of the system running Excel. Excel will automatically change them on other computers. Moreover. Excel Online always uses the local settings, even if the computer has another regional setting.
If you set the format to the custom format dd\/mm\/yyyy or dd"/"mm"/"yyyy, Excel should leave it unchanged on other computer.

Hi, I Have a similar problem. Independently by the format online, when I paste a date from online into my PC (in another excel file), it is transformed into a general format (not a date). And this create a lot of problems. Any solution? HansVogelaar

If you paste a single value, click in the target cell, press F2, then press Ctrl+V followed by Enter or Tab.
Does that work?
- Gon2671Mar 01, 2023Copper ContributorI cannot check anymore. I have changed manually all the date format in the online version now.....hundreds of data. The problem seems now solved as all data are in date format, before it was custom (maybe, not all). Many users of the same file have different regional settings, so I think it will be only a temporary solution. I wonder if there is a way to uniform all format from all users?

If the internet data use multiple date formats, it's difficult to process them.
With 04/24/2023 it's clear which date is meant, but 04/05/2023 could be the 5th of April or the 4th of May. There is no way to determine which from the date itself.
