Data validation not working online
When I upload an Excel document containing data validation to Sharepoint for online editing, the data validation doesn't work properly. The error alert set up for the validation doesn't show up when an invalid value is entered. Instead there is a message that says: "Data validation criteria have been defined for this cell to restrict the values that can be entered." But the user can choose to continue entering the invalid data.
Am I doing something wrong or the data validation option is not fully supported online?

I have a similar problem. Suddenly if I log into A SharePoint site and open an Excel file online, the data validation is set to give only a warning so you are able to add a custom value not in the drop down list. It is working for everyone else in the company just not with me. Worked perfectly before. Interesting enough if another user is logged into the same file, she can do the above. As soon as I sit with my laptop next to her anlog in **bleep** well and work in the file she can then suddenly also not do the above. Very strange....
