Data Validation and Column filtering

Hello,

I have filters on all of my columns in Excel. I need to add "Data Validation" on one of the columns because I need to create a list, but it when I do, it adds that "Data Validation" to the bottom of the column - but I just want the one filter so users can select from the list when they see that column.

Is there a way to get rid of the first filter so I only have one?  I initially tried to remove the filter, but it would not let me because there are filters on all of the columns.

  • Take this:

    1. Remove Filters Temporarily:
      • Go to the Data tab.
      • Click on Clear in the Sort & Filter group to remove all filters temporarily.
    2. Add Data Validation:
      • Select the cells in the column where you want to add the drop-down list.
      • Go to the Data tab.
      • Click on Data Validation in the Data Tools group.
      • In the Settings tab, choose List from the Allow drop-down menu.
      • Enter the list of items you want in the Source box.
      • Click OK.
    3. Reapply Filters:
      • Select the entire range of your data.
      • Go to the Data tab.
      • Click on Filter in the Sort & Filter group to reapply the filters.
