Data Validation and Column filtering
Hello,
I have filters on all of my columns in Excel. I need to add "Data Validation" on one of the columns because I need to create a list, but it when I do, it adds that "Data Validation" to the bottom of the column - but I just want the one filter so users can select from the list when they see that column.
Is there a way to get rid of the first filter so I only have one? I initially tried to remove the filter, but it would not let me because there are filters on all of the columns.
Take this:
- Remove Filters Temporarily:
- Go to the Data tab.
- Click on Clear in the Sort & Filter group to remove all filters temporarily.
- Add Data Validation:
- Select the cells in the column where you want to add the drop-down list.
- Go to the Data tab.
- Click on Data Validation in the Data Tools group.
- In the Settings tab, choose List from the Allow drop-down menu.
- Enter the list of items you want in the Source box.
- Click OK.
- Reapply Filters:
- Select the entire range of your data.
- Go to the Data tab.
- Click on Filter in the Sort & Filter group to reapply the filters.
