COUNTIF FORMULA NOT EXECUTING

I have an equal sign preceding the formula, I just didn’t mention it in my example.

  On Formulas tab --> Formula Auditing group --> click on Show Formulas

    Good Morning and thank you for responding. I tried the "Show Formulas" as you suggested and the result was just that, it showed all the formulas on my worksheet. I then went to the "Evaluate Formulas" and it showed "formula contains a constant". The same formula works in column C but doesn't in column D, even though both columns have a General formatting. The sum function, etc. works fine as do others. I tried using the COUNTA formulas in other rows referencing other data and got the same results, it works in column C but not in column D. This has really got me pondering! Thanks, David
