Couldn't refresh data types (stocks) - sorry, our server is temporarily having problems.
Not sure if this is a coincidence as the date turned to 2026 but the stockhistory function server is not refreshing the data. Anyone else seeing this issue? My 365 license is still good so don't thin...
You’re not alone and this isn’t a problem with your Excel or your 365 license. Multiple users right now are reporting the exact same issue with STOCKHISTORY and the Stocks data types showing:
“Couldn't refresh data types — sorry, our server is temporarily having problems. We’re working to fix it.” Reddit+1
There’s no client fix right now that reliably restores live data until Microsoft fixes the service.
What you should do now
1. Wait and retry later
2. Check Microsoft 365 Service Health (if you have admin access)
- For business subscriptions, the Admin Center has a service health dashboard that may show when the stocks service is restored.
3. Keep Excel up to date
