Copilot and Excel
Why is it that when I customize the ribbon in excel, copilot will remove itself from excel. I have to remove the customized ribbon and the copilot will return to excel.
Copilot sits in a ribbon group called Assistance, and customizing the Home tab doesn't carry that group over.
Fix: File > Options > Customize Ribbon, find Assistance in the left column, add it to your custom tab, OK. Or Reset > Reset all customizations and rebuild, this time including Assistance.
Also check the update channel (Semi-Annual Enterprise removes Copilot from desktop Excel entirely) and file location, since some people see it break on local and OneDrive files but not SharePoint.
If more than one person is hitting this, push ribbon settings through Group Policy or Cloud Policy so Assistance never gets dropped, and audit update channels while you're in there.
